For the past fifteen years, I have been showing, breeding, and participating in conformation and performance activities with my dogs.
In 1989, I started showing and then breeding Cairn terriers. So far, I have finished six champions, and all my dogs, except my fifteen-year-old male, participate in Earthdog tests. I also have a young female that is currently going through Agility classes and we intend to compete when she “graduates.” Among my favorite activities as a member of the Cairn Terrier Club of Denver (CTCD) is mentoring people who are new to the breed. In 1992, I developed an earthdog tutorial for CTCD which was also sold by the Cairn Terrier Club of America (CTCA). I have been a member of CTCA since 1991, have served as a Board member of the CTCA Foundation for three years, and have been involved with Cairn Terrier Rescue for eleven years. I am currently a member of the CTCA Board of Governors and Chair of the CTCA Performance Events Committee.
From 1974 through 1987, before becoming involved with Cairns, I had Jack Russell Terriers. An avid participant in field sporting with terriers (mostly JRTs), I have been on many hunts on the East Coast (mostly in Maryland and Virginia) and have done limited hunting in Colorado. I am also an approved AKC Earthdog judge. |
