A Bit About StoneMark Cairns. . .

How did the name StoneMark evolve? Webster’s dictionary defines the word cairn as ". . . a heap of stones piled up as a memorial or as a landmark." Ergo: StoneMark Kennels, which might resemble the ancestral place where these “active, game, hardy” Cairn Terriers live and roam freely in a natural pack environment.

This small kennel is nestled in the plains and farmlands located immediately east of the majestic Colorado Rocky Mountains.

A dog door from the kennel room. . .

. . .allows the dogs free access to a half-acre back yard. There are no kennel runs; the dogs live as a pack, and as such, establish their own pecking order. In the backyard there is a racing track:

. . . a three- to four-foot dirt and weed covered mound topped with driftwood to accommodate their digging instincts:

. . . and surrounding the dirt mound, there is an underground thirty-foot AKC regulation Junior Earthdog tunnel:

The Cairn terrier "architects" of StoneMark designed it themselves for their own amusement.
